June Favourite's

So I thought I would show you a selection of products I have been loving this month!

Garnier Intensive 7 Days Replenishing Lotion in Nutritive Mango Oil for Dry skin: I have quite dry skin so a body lotion is a must have for me. I've been using this nearly every day for a couple of months and leaves my skin so soft and smelling like mangoes, which is great! This is a nice body lotion to use before fake tan because it's not greasy and sinks in really fast.

Schwarzkopf got2b Guardian Angel heat protectant: I only use heat on my hair a couple times a week maximum but when I do I always reach for this protectant over my other ones. I really like the smell of this and doesn't take too long to dry so I can use my straighteners quite quickly. I usually buy this from Savers as it's about £2.50 there as opposed to £4.05 in Superdrug.

Dirty Works Buff Your Stuff Body Scrub: with the body lotion I use, this exfoliator helps prep my skin for fake tan. It has bits of pumice stone in and other great stuff like: almond oil, shea butter and vitamin E. Despite it feeling a little rough on the skin it does leave my skin feeling really soft. It's really accessable to buy from places like Sainsburys.

Collection 2000 Cream Puff Lip Cream in 01 Cotton Candy: I've never been a massive fan of regular lip gloss, which is why I like these cream puffs. They're a soft, opaque lip product which have a matte finish. This was the first one of these cream puffs I bought and I really love the pink colour.

Dove Treatment Intesive Repair Hair Mask: my hair becomes quite dry and frizzy because it's naturally curly. I use this about once a week on the lengths and ends of my hair. It is great at making my hair really soft, minimising split-ends and defines my curls.

Maybelline Expert Wear Mono Eye Shadow in Sparkling Gold and Naked Beige these are really nice golden eye shadows that when layered together or used seperately are lovely colours. They have great pigmentation too and last a long time.

My Favourite Perfumes

I'm someone who thinks that you should have one staple perfume in your collection that you wear on a regular basis so that can become one of your personal scents. Obviously on certain occasions I like to switch my perfumes up such as a deeper scent for night time or just a fresh body spray for lounging at home. These are a few of my perfumes that I use on a regular basis. Unfortunately two are on their last legs so I need to restock on these soon!

Left to right: Lolita Lempicka - Si Lolita, Hugo Boss - Orange, The Body Shop - Love ETC.. and Dior - Pure Poison
Lolita Lempicka - Si Lolita Eau de Parfum 30ml: this is my perfume that I call my 'staple scent'. I wear if I am going out during the day for shopping or lunch for example. It has a spicy/ oriental scent with the notes of pink peppercorn and sweet pea. It's also quite fresh smelling with mandarin and bergamot notes. The smell lasts a long time but I usually do a touch up during the day because I love the scent so much. I'm sure you can agree the bottle is gorgeous. The liquid gives it a pink tint and it has golden outlining on the bottle. The ring about the nozzle flips down so doesn't come with a lid, but I think it gives it an elegant look. I've seen this product in normal perfume shops/ department stores retailing for about £30 to £40 for the 30ml, but if you buy it from Asda, you can get it for £20! I was actually lucky enough for it to go half price at Christmas, so got it at a bargain of £10!

Hugo Boss - Orange For Women Eau de Toilette 50ml: my boyfriend got me this as a birthday present one year and I must say, did a pretty good job! This used to be the perfume I wore every day, but not it's down to its last few drops I switched to my Si Lolita perfume. Orange it a very warm fruity scent which has notes of: apple, orange blossom, white florals, vanilla and sandalwood. It's suitable for day time but I don't think is strong enough to be classed as a night time scent as it's too crisp and fresh. But of course you could wear it anytime you want! This perfume retails for around £38 depending which store you buy it from. If you want to read more into this perfume click HERE for the Hugo Boss website.

The Body Shop - Love ETC.. Eau de Parfum 30ml: again another great day time scent that I personally think can be carried off into a night time scent as well. It has notes of jasmine, vanilla and sandalwood so makes it quite floral but with a warming side. It's not very fresh and crisp floral scent which is why I think can be a nice evening scent. I also think it smells a little like those Black Jack sweets haha, so it quite sweet smelling. The scent also lasts a long time and I also carry around the handy little Love ETC.. solid perfume when I wear this scent for touch ups throughout the day. This perfume can be bought from The Body Shop for £14 for the 30ml.

Dior - Pure Poison Eau de Parfum 30ml: this is a scent that I would wear more at night because it's much stronger than the other scents above. Because of this it's very long lasting and you only need to spray a small amount. It's a floral and fruity scent with notes of: jasmine, orange blossom, amber and sandalwood. I also think it is a little musky so again is appropriate for evening wear. As you can see I am more attracted to perfumes with fruity or floraly notes as I find them much more youthful. If you're interested in this fragrance, click HERE to read more on the House of Fraser website where it retails for £46 for the 30ml.

What are your favourite perfumes?

My Prom Shoes & Accessories

My year 13 leavers ball is on the 28th June. I have spent months looking for the right dress and the right shoes and accessories to go with it. This post is to show you everything apart from my dress I will be wearing on prom night. I will be doing a post with photos of prom so you will be able to see my dress then! I want to keep the final look a secret until the night. I will put links to the things I can find on the online shops.

First off, these are my heels! These are from New Look and they are the Floral Satin Peep Toe Shoes. My dress is long so I wanted some peep toe heels as I thought it would look cute. I think the pattern and colour of these shoes are gorgeous. They are also 4.5" tall. I had been eyeing them up in New Look for a while and was so happy that they went with my prom dress. The other good thing is that they will also be a great pair of heels to wear after prom on nights out! On the downside, the size 6 was just that little bit too big so I had to buy some heel grips, but now they fit perfectly. The only thing I'm worried about is that other New Look heels I own have ruined my feet in the past, so I'm hoping that these are an exception.

This is my clutch bag which is also from New Look and is the Stone Chain Edge Clutch. When I was trying my dress on with the shoes and bag the woman in the changing room gave us a 20% off voucher, so these two products were cheaper for me than what the price is on the website. I love this bag, and again will be a great clutch to use after prom. It's quite flat and has a golden/ silver (it's that colour metal that seems to change depending on the lighting haha) twist clasp fastening and metal chain detailing around the edge. Inside there is a phone holder section and a pocket with a zip.

And finally these are my accessories. At the top is my bracelet. I wanted a really dainty silver bracelet and I was able to find this after hours of searching in Claire's Accessories of all places! I'm sorry it's hard to see but it is a silver chain with a diamante then a pearly flower repeated over.
Below that I have the flower that I will put in my hair. This is from Accessorize and is a white flower with pearls and diamantes in the middle. I'm going to clip my hair at the back of my head with this.
Next to this are my earings which are also from Accessorize and are the Peony Flower Short Drop earings. Dangly earings are a must for prom and these are so dainty and pretty!
Below the earings is my necklace which is also from Accessorize. My boyfriend got me this for our 2 years anniversary. It is a little 'A' and has a little diamante next to it. As you see I went for a diamante and pearly accessories theme as I think it looks so elegant.

And that's everything! I haven't got a coursage for my wrist, which I'm quite gutted about but oh well! I was thinking about doing a post where I show you my makeup I will wear for prom, so if you want to see that let me know! As for my nails, I'm going to get them done at a beauticians and I will probably go for a french manicure. Hope you enjoyed the post!

Glamour Magazine's Benefit Freebies

I love getting little freebies with magazines and always try to collect them. This months Glamour magazine had 3 mini benefit products up for grabs and as it is only £2 per magazine I thought I would try and collect all 3. However I have been really unsuccessful at finding the That Gal face primer which is the product I was most looking forward to trying. Never the less I was able to get my hands on the other 2 goodies!

July 2012 issue with Fearne Cotton

So the products I was able to find were the Bad Gal Lash mascara and the Pore-fessional pore minimiser.

I have tried the mascara before in Benefit's Sha la lovely eye shadow set and is really nice at making your eyelashes thick and black. The wand is really big so coats all the eyelashes nicely. I don't think I'll ever actually buy this mascara on its own though as I think there are great highstreet alternatives that do a similar look, but it is a nice size to throw in your handbag for touch-ups. This product in full size retails at: £16.50 and can be bought here.

I haven't tried the pore minimiser before but sounds like a lovely product. It's an oil-free formula that helps minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines to make your skin appear smoother. I don't suffer from large pores so I didn't think this product would be very useful for me but I read on the box that if you apply this before your makeup, it can help your makeup stay put. So essentially like a primer? I'm hoping so as then I will make good use out of this product. This product in full size retails at: £23.50 and can be bought here.

Was you able to get your hands on any of these Benefit products?

My Top 6 | Lipsticks

I never used to be one who wore lipstick on a regular basis, only if I was going out somewhere where I had to dress up more. Now I wear it every time I do my makeup and is something that completes a makeup look. I prefer coral/ orange and pink lipsticks. I find reds are too bold for me and I don't feel comfortable in them. I rarely wear nudes as well as I would rather just wear some lip gloss or lip balm.

Swatched in the same order as above

(Left to right)
Natural Collection Sheer Natural in Sand Castle: this is probably the closest I would get to a nude shade. I like this as it gives a shiny finish to the lips due to the small amount of silver shimmer. It's great for everyday wear and easy to apply as it is a very natural pink shade.

Natural Collection Moisture Shine in Rose Bud: this is a really nice rose pink shade and can be built up to a stronger colour. It's very moisturising and doesn't dry out the lips. It has a slight golden shimmer to it as well.

Barry M in Pink Ribbon 153: a much brighter pink than the last two with a shiny finish. I love the colour of this and goes with my skin tone well. I wore this to a wedding and it stayed put throughout most the day too.

Topshop Lipstick in Confession: this is my most recent lipstick purchase and I found it at a Topshop store for only £4! It's a vibrant/ neon pink, which when I first saw it in the shop I thought it was an orange toned lipstick because of the little sticker, so when I got home and looked at the actual product I was a little disappointed. However, when I applied it it was such a gorgeous pink colour and lasted on my lips for a long time. It also has quite a fresh/ fruity smell to it which I like. This is my first Topshop lipstick and I am impressed!

Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate in 12: this is a lovely coral colour that is probably more on the red side in the tube but more orange when applied on the lips. These lipsticks are really pigmented and apply really well.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter in Tutti Frutti 015: one of my favourite lips products ever. I love the look of bright orange lips and in a lip butter form it's much more wearable on a day-to-day basis. This is definitely my favourite in the colour range.

I would also like to add a massive thank you to my 20 lovely followers and everyone who reads my posts! I never thought even 1 person would take the time out of their day to read my blog :) I am very grateful!! Thank you!

What's your favourite lipstick? I'm always on the hunt for more!

Nail Polish Of The Day

Woo-hoo! My A-level exams are finally over and my summer can begin! I also had my beauty course interview the other day and I have an unconditional place for this September! I'm so excited!

Barry M have brought out a few more glitter nail paints recently and whilst I was at Superdrug a few days ago I was able to pick up this beautiful pink glitter nail polish. It was literally love at first sight.

Pink Silver Glitter 337

This is the shade 'Pink Silver Glitter 337' and in my opinion, is beautiful! I wasn't massively won over by the other colours like the teal and the purple-ish ones. The only other one I may have been interested in was a gold glitter one, but unfortunately that was sold out.
The pink glitter nail paint has light and dark pink glitter and silver glitter in (hence the name!) and I think will be a great summer nail polish!

Left to right: Ciate 'My Fair Lady', Barry M 'Pink Silver Glitter' and Revlon Dry Oil top coat.
I use Ciaté paint pot in 'My Fair Lady' which I got free in a Marie Claire issue a while ago as a nude base coat. This is a great nail polish too as on its own makes your nails look shiny and healthy. I then applied 3 coats of the pink glitter nail paint so that my nails were all sparkly. I then used the Revlon Dry Oil top coat for the first time as my clear top coat. This applies well but as of yet, I am not sure how long this will make my nail polish last. Most of Barry M's glitter nail paints are quite long lasting, to the point that they are a pain to remove.

And here's the final result! This is definitely a 'me' kind of nail polish and I would totally recommend it! This nail polish is £2.99 at Boots and Superdrug, but I could not find it on the Barry M website. Right now if you spend over £6 on Barry M in either Boots or Superdrug, you get a free Retro Nail Paint!

What's your favourite nail polish at the moment?

Mini Haul

After my last psychology exam yesterday, I thought I would treat myself to a little retail-therapy to reward my long hours slaving away revising.

Revlon Nail Treatments: Savers

I love finding little bargains in shops like Poundland and Savers, especially brands like Revlon! These were the last two Revlon nail treatments left on the shelf and looked pretty battered (hence the massive chip on the right one), but seeing as they were only £1 each I thought I’d give them a go. I’ve never heard of these products before, but knowing me I’ve probably just overlooked them.
I bought step 3: nail growth treatment (left) and step 4: no smudge dry oil (right). Right now my nails are short and brittle so I thought the nail growth treatment would be great. I’ve only applied one coat of this so far. This treatment polish has a nice fresh smell of lemons, which was unexpected. Also the finish isn’t shiny as I was expecting but just looks like your normal nail texture.

“Instantly replenishes nail moisture by over 100% to encourage growth. This fast-absorbing, water-weight formula features emollient arctic berry oils and vitamins C, E and panthenol to thoroughly condition nails and eliminate brittleness so they can grow. Scented with refreshing lemon mandarin sage to renew and revitalize.” LINK

I am yet to try the dry oil treatment, but I am expecting it to be a fast drying top coat. Once I have trialled these nail treatments for a couple of weeks I will make a post on what I thought of them.

Play Up Pink Swatch

Revlon Crème Gloss in ‘015 Play Up Pink’: Poundland

Again, this isn’t a product I’ve seen much of in shops like Boots and Superdrug, but I like finding one off items like this. This is an opaque rosey pink lip gloss that I think is suitable for everyday wear. It has an inbuilt brush applicator that you twist up to release the product which is handy for popping in your hand bag for touches up throughout the day. My only issue with this product is the smell. It smells of plastic carrier bags haha! But when the product is put on the lips, the smell does fade a bit.

Miss Selfridge Eloise Nude Flats

You know the feeling when you’ve had your eye on something for a couple months but never got round to buying it, then next thing you know it’s in the sale? Love it! I’ve wanted these shoes for so long and I was so happy to find these in the sale at my local House of Fraser for less than half price! And the last pair in my size (fate right?). They’re gorgeous nude flats with an ankle fastening and a strap along the top of the foot with small gold beading detail. They’re the perfect shoe to go with every outfit!

Hope your exams are going well for those who are doing them. I have my last one on Thursday (Business studies) and then I'm free from school forever! How scary!

My Skin Saviours

Skin type: dry/ sensitive
I have always suffered with problematic skin that used to affect my self-confidence as a young teenager. I didn’t tend to think a lot about a skin care routine because I never knew there were products that could actually help. Now, I have found that in my current skin care routine there are certain products that benefit my skin a lot and I cannot live with out them!

St Ives Sensitive Skin Apricot Scrub LINK
This gentle apricot scrub can be used daily to fight dry skin and blemishes. This product is amazing and I found started to visibly benefit my skin within a week. It also makes my skin very soft afterwards and remains so throughout the day. I recommend using an exfoliator in the shower so that your pores are more open and the product can do its job fully.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear Pink Grapefruit Cream Wash LINK
After a year of trying the skin care line Avène, I never actually noticed a massive improvement to my skin. My mum randomly purchased the Neutrogena cream wash and I thought, as I didn’t have anything to lose, I’d give it a try. Best decision. Ever. Within a few days I noticed my skin wasn’t as red and fewer spots were forming. I was amazed by this product but annoyed I hadn’t got my hands on it earlier! It has a lovely grapefruit scent which makes you face feel fresh. I would also recommend using your cleanser in the shower for the same reason as before!

Freederm Spot Treatment Gel LINK
A great spot treatment gel that doesn’t dry your skin out which is a bonus for my skin type! As you only need a thin layer, a small tube will last a good few months. I think it’s much better at preventing spots than actually treating them so you may have to wait a while to see a big improvement.

Body Shop Tea Tree Face Mask LINK
I don’t use this product as a weekly face mask as it is intended, but nightly and directly on to any blemishes and oilier areas of skin. It has tea tree oil in it (a natural blemish healer) and I find that as a mask it is not as concentrated as the oil you can buy (which ruined my skin) so doesn’t dry out my skin.
If I am having a bad skin day I will use this as an all over the face mask. I find like this it tightens pores as well as fighting spots. I am on my second pot of this and have been using it daily for 2 years, so is great value for money.

Some things to remember if you’re suffering with problematic skin:
♥If you’re trying out a new face wash, for example, don’t expect miracles over night. A skin expert at Boots told me to wait 6 weeks and if you do not see a good enough improvement, move on to another product. However, if a product is damaging your skin further, don’t sit it out and think it’ll get better because it probably wont as your skin is telling you it doesn’t like the product.

♥Your diet will also affect your skin. I found drinking more bottles of water instead of fizzy drinks made my skin much healthier and glowy. Also increase the amount of fruit and veg as they have anti oxidants and vitamins in that can help improve your skin. I also take vitamin tablets daily so that I make sure I have them in my body.

I am by no means a dermatologist or am saying every product and tip will work for/ in the same way for your skin! This is what works for me and is my opinion that made my skin better!

I know what it's like to have bad skin and trust me it will get better. I hope this helped some people who are looking for new ways to help their skin!

What is your best product/ tip for healthy and clear skin?

Amie

My Everyday Makeup

I love reading blogs and watching videos about what makeup people use on daily basis so I thought I would give you a peak into what is in my makeup bag! I have dry/ normal skin and I am quite sensitive to some products, so I tend not to switch around on items too often once I’ve found something that works for me.

Face makeup
Max Factor Xperience Weightless Foundation: 45 Raw Silk
A great foundation that is oil free and light weight so it doesn’t clog up your pores. This foundation is light to medium coverage, but can be built up to a much fuller medium coverage. I apply this with my Lydia Professionals F-010 foundation brush which I purchased from eBay.

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer: 2 Light
This product is raved about so much and personally I think it deserves all the hype it gets! This concealer is a heavy coverage product that blends really nicely. I use this on blemishes and under my eyes.

Natural Collection Loose Powder: Neutral Translucent
Natural Collection is such a great brand. All the items are under £2 and their products, like the powders, work so well for me. This powder isn’t cakey feeling and leaves my skin quite matte. I apply this with my Body Shop Face and Body powder brush.

Natural Collection Blusher Powder: Pink Cloud
A great light pink blusher. I apply this with a Cosmopolitan blusher brush from Superdrug.

Eye makeup
Urban Decay Naked Pallet
One of my favourite makeup pieces of all time! I’m sure you’ve all seen this pallet and heard great reviews about it. I like to use Virgin (a shimmery white/ pink) on the lid and Naked (matte light brown) in the crease using the flat eyeshadow brush that comes in the pallet and a Prestige Shadow Sweep #104 brush.

Bourjois Eyeshadow Duo: 16 Crazy baby
This product was given to me by my friend and I don’t think they sell this anymore but the white shimmer colour is great as an inner-corner highlight.

M.U.A Eyeliner Pencil: Rich Brown
I love this eyeliner it’s so pigmented and creamy so it’s great to put above the lash line. M.U.A eyeliners are only £1. I would recommend checking them out, especially the brown as it’s much more natural looking than applying a black liner.

Maybelline Colossal Volume Express Mascara: Glam Black
I remember getting this a couple of years ago and the first time I used this mascara I was like WOW! It makes my eyelashes so long and thick, it’s a staple in my makeup bag.

Soap and Glory Thick and Fast Mascara: Black
This mascara does exactly what it says on the tin (well tube). It makes my eyelashes so volumised and black I just can’t live without it!

Lip makeup
Revlon Colourburst Lipbutter
When I heard about these being released in the US I wanted them right away! They eventually came out a few months later in the UK whilst Boots had a 3 for 2 offer on all cosmetics, so naturally I bought 3 in one go (Tutti Frutti, Berry Smoothie and Strawberry Shortcake). They’re so moisturising and have a lovely colour pay off!

These products create a natural look that is perfect for daily wear such as for college or sixth form. I hope you enjoyed this post and helped you if you’re looking for any new makeup to try out!

What are you makeup must haves?

Barry M Nail Paint Collection

So I thought I would start off the blogging series with a little nail varnish collection. Barry M nail paints are one of my favourite nail varnishes in the high street shops. They are inexpensive at £2.99 a bottle for a ‘standard’ nail paint, £3.99 for an ‘effects’ nail paint and new to their nail varnish line, the magnetic nail paints at £4.99. You can purchase them at Boots and Superdrug in the UK and Barry M's website.
In total I have 20 Barry M nail paints which I’ve accumulated over the past year or so and I'm still collecting!
I love the colour range that Barry M provides and the majority of the nail paints are an opaque consistency (there are a few that need 2 or 3 coats to bring out the colour in the bottle).

Silver jewellery box from Fenwick
I organise my nail paints in number order (sad but true)

I keep my nail paints separate from my other nail varnishes in this silver jewellery box I got for Christmas last year. However, it’s nearly full so I’m looking into other ways I can store my mini-collection.

Left to right: red wine, raspberry, shocking pink, strawberry icecream, limited edition from Boots (no name) and berry icecream
Left to right: coral, peach melba, mushroom, dusky mauve and navy
Left to right: black multi-glitter, limited edition silver glitter, hologram, pink iridescent, once upon a time and gold
Left to right: instant effects foil (gold), instant effects (crackle in black) and instant effects (crackle in white)

My favourite colours are Raspberry, the purple/ pink limited edition from boots and pink iridescent, but each one holds a place in my heart.
Barry M have brought out a few more glittery nail paints recently and the only one I’ve managed to try is black multi-glitter so I am waiting to be able to buy some more pretty soon. I totally would recommend these nail paints to anyone as the quality is so good for the price!

I hope you enjoyed my first blog. Sorry if the pictures are not that great quality (camera broke a few week ago and have not got round to buying a new one). I’m going to see how the blogging goes and maybe invest into a new camera!

Amie

Hey Everyone!

Hi I'm Amie. This is my new blog all about things that interest me in life, which is mainly beauty but I would love to include other stuff too.

My goal is to become a makeup artist after I complete my beauty course that starts in September, so I felt that creating a blog would enable me to show you tips and tricks I learn along the way. Until then, I felt that I can blog about general stuff from reviews to events I am doing during the summer (like going to see Ed Sheeran in July! Ahh can't wait!).

If you want to follow me on twitter it's @beautybelleamie and instagram is @amiehaffenden

Anyway, I hope that you enjoy my blog and I am looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
